Thrive Homes appoints new Executive Director for Finance

11 December 2023

Thrive Homes has strengthened its Leadership Team with the appointment of Stephen King as Executive Director of Finance. Stephen's rich experience of over 30 years in various financial roles across the housing sector, not-for-profits, and the energy sector, positions him as a valuable asset to Thrive Homes.

Stephen's track record includes a successful nine-year tenure at Metropolitan Thames Valley, where he initially served as Finance Director overseeing a £1 billion regeneration project at Clapham Park and continued in a central Finance role, significantly improving performance of the business over this period. His subsequent role as Chief Finance Officer at Shaw Trust further exemplifies his ability to drive measured growth and implement transparent working practices.

One of Stephen's key strengths lies in fostering collaborative environments and building robust teams to achieve strategic objectives. He is well-regarded for his innovative approach to integrating finance seamlessly into all areas of operation, promoting efficiency and delivering high-quality outcomes.

In his new role, Stephen will lead a team of 25 professionals in the Finance department, managing customer accounts and contributing to Thrive’s continued growth. Thrive Homes, as a professional landlord providing over 5,500 homes across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire, is focused on increasing housing availability and affordability in one of the most expensive parts of the UK.

Commenting on his appointment, Stephen King said:

“I was initially attracted to working for Thrive Homes when I learned about the organisation’s strong values and commitment to their customers. I am excited to join this dedicated team and contribute my experience to furthering Thrive’s purpose, not only in financial stewardship but also providing homes that enable individuals and families to build and sustain the lives they want."

Elspeth Mackenzie, Chief Executive at Thrive Homes, said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Stephen to Thrive Homes. His extensive experience and dedication will greatly benefit all of us, including our customers.  Stephen will be working closely with our investors and other stakeholders to support our ambitions to provide quality affordable homes.”
