Frequently asked questions
It is anticipated that this programme of building works will last 36 months. We will keep residents informed of the progress throughout the programme. The current anticipated build completion date is Autum 2028.
Core working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
Hoarding has been erected around the development site to minimise dust. The contractor has also deployed site staff to sweep and wash down the roadways and pavements outside the site regularly throughout the day.
Regarding lorries exiting onto Green Street, we have the following measures in place to avoid any debris being spread across the surrounding roads:
-
A static drive on wheel wash that all lorries must use.
-
A full-time road sweeper to keep Green Street clean.
-
An additional road sweeper that can be called upon if necessary and has been utilised in periods of recent significant rainfall.
The scale of the Lyndhurst Farm project requires a significant number of vehicles arriving and leaving the site while we build the development. The morning start up inevitably brings the most congestion, with multiple vehicles getting into position to undertake the removal of muckaway and start their day.
To effectively manage construction traffic and comply with planning, we have a strict no delivery before 8am policy. We are also implementing a Just-in-Time (JIT) delivery booking system to reduce congestion. To further support traffic management, we have improved access to our site entrance with new kerb lines, tactile paving, and new tarmac.
Site rules have been reinforced and communicated to our subcontractors. These will be reviewed regularly as we continue to build the development so that we can ensure we’re adapting to circumstances as needed.
The relocation and expansion of the allotments will also come with parking for the users. Each new home will have an allocated parking space along with additional visitors parking on site. The 263 spaces will sit within the new development and will not affect any existing parking on the estate roads.
For any concerns regarding parking on the estate or in Hertsmere generally, please contact Hertsmere Borough Council: www.hertsmere.gov.uk/contact-us
