Ashley Lane (Chair)

Ashley Lane (Chair)

Ashley Lane is an experienced housing professional who runs his own consultancy company that provides specialist advice on the provision and construction of affordable housing to housebuilders, local authorities, housing associations and financial investors. Prior to starting this venture in 2015 Ashley was a group director for 16 years of two of the biggest housebuilders Persimmon and Westbury Homes.

Ashley Lane originally trained as a graduate engineer before achieving a masters degree in business and a doctorate in engineering and business. From this basis he then had a successful senior management career in manufacturing with Potterton and Rangemaster before entering housing.

Over the past 10 years he has been a non-executive director of the local authority housing company in Solihull, Solihull Community Housing, the past seven of which has been as chairman. He has also served three years as a non-executive of a Housing Association, Two Rivers Housing which covers the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.

When not working Ashley enjoys sport, particularly football, travel and gardening. He is married to Gillian with two grown up children who also keep him busy.

Vic Baylis (Vice Chair)

Vic Baylis (Vice Chair)

Vic recently retired as the Director of Customer Services at Westminster City Council. Prior to this he worked for many years in the housing service for Westminster and went on to become the Director of Housing establishing CityWest Homes which he later chaired. Vic lives locally in Rickmansworth and is a season ticket holder of Watford FC and in his spare time enjoys playing golf.

Vic is also Vice Chairman of the Thrive Board.

Beverley Cook

Beverley Cook

A Thrive tenant from South Oxhey, where she lives with husband Richard and their two young children.

Beverley is a former Governor at Warren Dell School and works as a support worker at Watford Mencap.

Jamie Smith

Jamie Smith

Jamie is Deputy Chief Executive and a Board Member at Swan Housing Group which operates in Essex and East London. Jamie has responsibility for finance and asset management. Prior to joining Swan Housing Group in 2009 Jamie worked in a number of Finance Director roles in the construction sector.

Yvonne Harrison

Yvonne Harrison

Yvonne Harrison is a Development Consultant working with a range of public and private sector clients. Previously she worked at Metropolitan, a large g15 housing provider, as Director leading on commercial activity, regeneration and new business. Yvonne has lived in Watford for almost 30 years and joined the Thrive Board in January 2016.

Tom Vaughan

Tom Vaughan

Tom grew up in the Three Rivers area and has worked for most of his career at Unilever and BP. More recently Tom was marketing and strategy director for six years at Affinity Sutton - a large, national housing association. He now has a number of non executive posts - including Fairtrade, the NUS and Freedom Food (RSPCA). Tom is married to a Health Visitor and has two grown up children, who both live in London.

Graham Olive

Graham Olive

Graham is a commercial banker with over 25 years’ experience in the UK and internationally. He established and developed a northern European structured finance business for a major international bank. He now specialises in business development and risk management and is currently Interim Deputy CEO of OakNorth Bank, a new challenger bank with a focus on business lending. Graham is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, country walks and is a member of the CPRE.

Monique Kozlakidis

Monique Kozlakidis

Monique Kozlakidis is the Marketing Manager at a mid-tier West End accounting firm, responsible for the strategy, implementation and measurement of the firm’s marketing and business development. She has been working in professional services marketing for more than 15 years. Monique lives in central London but has close connections to the Watford area. She enjoys spending time with her daughter and loves to travel and reading.

Malcolm Green

Malcolm Green

Malcolm was a senior executive with BAE Systems until his retirement in 2011. For 15 years he was responsible for all Real Estate activities in the company including residential regeneration schemes in collaboration with housing developers and social housing providers. He was also Chair of a company pension scheme until his retirement. He lives in Chorleywood and has been a Thrive Board member since Autumn 2012.

Kate McLeod

Kate McLeod

Kate recently retired as CFO of the Royal Mencap Society, where her responsibilities covered property and IT as well as Finance. Prior to that, her career was spent working in various finance roles in Investment Management firms. She now sits on a number of Risk, Audit and Finance committees of Not for Profit organisations. Kate lives in Buckinghamshire and joined the Thrive board in May 2018.

Elspeth Mackenzie

Elspeth joined Thrive Homes as Chief Executive in January 2009, having previously been the Chief Executive of Griffin Homes, part of the Origin Housing Group that focused on low cost home-ownership and rent for key workers.

She has had a varied career in housing management, spanning 20 years and has a wide experience of property management, strategic planning, organisational development and the governance of housing associations.

Voluntary roles have included the Vice-Chair of Crown Housing Association, and Chair of Grange Housing and she is currently a member of the Local Strategic Partnership Board. Elspeth also mentors others within the profession through Housing Diversity Network.

Elspeth is committed to working with residents and the wider community to deliver Thrive Homes’ vision.

Jo Barrett

Jo was appointed in June 2008, previously having worked at Stevenage Borough Council as their Director of Technical Services and was involved in the setting up of Stevenage Homes in 2006. This was an Arms Length Management Organisation responsible for the management of the Council's housing stock. There, she was responsible for the implementation of their asset management strategy and delivery of the decent homes improvement programme, as well as the day to day repairs service.

She has 20 years experience in the housing sector, having worked for 15 years at North Hertfordshire District Council. Whilst Jo was there, she was involved in the transfer of their stock to North Hertfordshire Homes, a specially set up housing association.

Jo obtained a BSc in Building Surveying in 1994 and qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1995. Jo is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Shaun McLean

Shaun joined Thrive Homes in September 2014, having worked in senior roles at a number of multinational companies for 13 years before joining the housing sector in 2011. His previous role was Deputy Finance Director of the Family Mosaic housing association in London.

His career began as a qualified chartered accountant in South Africa and since moving to the UK in 1998 he has progressed through various financial management roles. He has worked for a number of large companies covering areas including telecoms, software, financial services and container shipping. These included Santander, Accenture and Maersk.

He moved into the housing sector as he values the importance of making a social contribution and finds it a rewarding role. He has also been able to utilise his experience in the commercial world and will be driving Thrive towards the next stage in its Strategic Plan.

Jack Burnham

Jack joined Thrive Homes in 2017, having previously worked for a large developer based in London and the Home Counties. His previous experience crosses both the public and private sector, including working for local authorities in Essex and Hertfordshire as well as a London-based housebuilder.

After graduating from the University of Birmingham, Jack completed postgraduate studies in housing. He holds professional membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing, Institute of Economic Development and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Jack, who is passionate about housing, has dedicated most of his career to building affordable homes. He has also previously served as Chair of a small housing association which provides specialist accommodation and support to people with mental health issues and learning difficulties.

Jack will utilise his knowledge of the commercial residential development industry in order to achieve Thrive’s development ambitions.
