Pride at Thrive Homes: Celebrating diversity and inclusion

June 2024

This Pride Month, we at Thrive Homes are celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and our commitment to championing an inclusive, equitable, and diverse workplace for all. We spoke to three of our colleagues about what Pride means to them:

Heidi (People Partner) - Building a diverse and inclusive workplace:
"At Thrive Homes, we believe that everyone deserves to feel valued and respected, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity and I’m proud of the work we are doing. We've implemented several initiatives to create a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ employees. This includes unconscious bias training through our Allyship programme, and ensuring our company policies are inclusive by carrying out Equality Impact Assessments. This ensures language doesn’t discriminate against any groups. It is great to see so many of my colleagues proudly wearing their Ally badges on their lanyards. These are a constant reminder that Thrive, whilst still having more work to do (as all workplaces do), are absolutely on the right track in being fully inclusive. It's not just about celebrating Pride in June; it's about building a culture of acceptance and belonging all year round."

Anne (Assistant Director Customer) - Creating a welcoming environment for our customers:
"Our customers come from all walks of life, and we want everyone to feel welcome when considering a Thrive home. We actively encourage LGBTQ+ inclusion and make sure our colleagues are equipped with information to assist customers of all backgrounds. It's important for our customers to know that they'll be treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

By collecting customers EDI data, we can be sure that our services are inclusive and do not discriminate against any groups. This information is invaluable in creating fair and accessible services.”

Trinder (ASB & Sustainment Officer) - Living authentically as an LGBTQ+ individual:
"As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I value the supportive environment we have at Thrive Homes. It's empowering to be able to work in a place where I can be myself without fear of discrimination. Pride Month is a time to celebrate the progress we've made towards LGBTQ+ equality, but it's also a reminder that there's still work to be done. I'm proud to work for a company that actively champions diversity and inclusion, both internally and externally."
