Staff dress down to give a helping hand to Watford families

Young families in the Watford area will get some extra support this New Year thanks to ‘dress down Friday’ fundraisers at a local housing association.

Home-Start Watford and Three Rivers has been presented with £444 by Thrive Homes, raised by staff donating £1 each to wear casual clothes to work once a week.

Emma Power, Scheme Manager at Home-Start Watford and Three Rivers, said: “We are very grateful to Thrive Homes for this donation, which means so much to us. It costs £100 a month to support a family, so this donation will support a family in crisis for over four months.”

The charity provides practical and emotional support to families who are vulnerable or under stress, with children under the age of five.

Home-Start’s trained volunteers offer friendship, advice and practical help to families to ensure children have the best start in life with the care they need in a happy, secure home.

Thrive has previously supported Home-Start through its community grants scheme in recent years and many Thrive families have benefitted from the service.

Daryl Pereira, Engagement Business Partner at Thrive, said: “We are delighted to continue our support for Home-Start’s invaluable work helping young families.”
