It’s not all work!

We support and encourage staff to work voluntarily in our communities. As part of our 2013-14 ‘Year of Ambition’, our employees completed 950 volunteering hours on local projects. We encouraged employees to spend a day volunteering instead of their usual day’s work.

Local initiatives to benefit from our volunteering included a number of landscaping schemes in South Oxhey, such as staff working with the ASCEND charity on its Dig Deep Garden Project – a community allotment.

Thrive staff also volunteered at Mill End Community Centre, 9 Lives furniture project in Rickmansworth, Watford MENCAP, and Watford Workshop, a social enterprise providing disabled people with work experience, skills training and employment.

We also enjoy theme days to mark events such as St David’s Day and Diwali, usually involving themed food, in aid of charity.

Our staff tell us they have a great time when they get out into our communities, and Thrive regularly adds value to local events such as fairs, festivals and fun days.
