Quality homes to meet affordable housing needs

Quality homes to meet affordable housing needs

Approach

Thrive Homes is committed to providing good quality affordable homes and services, enabling the development of communities where people enjoy living.

We are keen to play our part in building new homes to meet the growing need for affordable housing, and teamed up for the first time with a private developer on the creation of a new community in Buckinghamshire.

Thrive is building 38 homes as part of a major residential housing development at Berryfields, on the outskirts of Aylesbury. The £6 million scheme has enabled Thrive to partner with Taylor Wimpey, under a section 106 planning agreement to provide much needed affordable homes.

“Everyone at Thrive Homes has been fantastic – very professional, caring and helpful. They’ve been absolutely faultless.”

Achievements

These homes – 14 of which have been completed – are our first properties in Aylesbury Vale, and the scheme includes our first new-build homes available for shared ownership.

The new homes are integrated with the private sale properties within the private development. Thrive is providing nine three-bedroom houses for shared ownership and 29 homes – a mix of houses and flats – for affordable rent. All the homes are due for completion by December 2017.

The first Thrive families to move in at Berryfields have been delighted with their new homes.

“I cried when I found out we could have it. My daughter Ellie has been sharing my room and every day has been asking when we can move. It’s brilliant!” – Holly Mead

“We’ve had a real journey since my baby was born a year and a half ago with serious complications. Living in temporary accommodation has not been easy. Getting the keys and moving here today, we can see there’s light at the end of the tunnel.” – Niki Byrne

“I’m ecstatic! It’s a beautiful house – my children will be really excited to move in and get settled.” – Carly Wenman

“We were on the council’s housing waiting list for eight months, so we were delighted when we got this house – it is perfect, we really like it here. There’s a nice secure garden with a shed for storage, lots more room for the children to run around and a large hallway where they like playing with their toys under the stairs. We are all very happy here.” – Kirsty Tully
